Job Description
The Category Advisor will provide market insights, customer trends, business score-carding, and modular developments to create an action plan for the Walmart business to increase our sales performance. They will provide objective recommendations and thought leadership to merchants to increase the total share of the market. This role will involve collaborating closely with the merchant team, as well as our internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Utilize the "Retail Link" software program to provide analytical support to Walmart with weekly reporting for all categories
• Analyze Category data and Samsonite internal sales
• Manage the overall Modular development
o Create and draw Modulars that meet all of Walmart's requirements
o Submit accurate modulars with item numbers, UPCs, etc.
o Provide suggestions and offer consumer insights to customers when necessary
• Support the development and execution of the internal sales category management strategy
• Educate the sales manager's and Walmart's internal management as needed
• Serve as the liaison between the buyer and sales manager
• Assist the sales manager in their preparation for quarterly management reviews
• Develop new analytical tools, reports, and processes on a weekly, quarterly, and yearly basis
• Identify new ways to forecast for new product launches
• Secure competitive market data to identify trends in the marketplace and action based on findings
Modular Responsibilities
• Manage the work related to the modular demand by clustering information, reviewing overlays and accuracy, and confirming the usability of the build
• Build modulars based on merchant-approved data and make recommendations based on those metrics
• Define the accuracy and usability of the build and provide timely recommendations
• Sort recommendations by cluster and footage promptly for project stores
Web Enrichment & Item Content Responsibilities
• Maintain our content quality score while providing recommendations based on the insights in Item 360 and product-type style guides (product name, short and long description, imagery, required and suggested attributes, shelf descriptions, and prints on a flag or other needed identifiers)
Omni Category Reporting, Item Analysis, Competitive Analysis, and Customer Insights
• Prepare Omni Category Reporting on key category metrics including US economic snapshot, consumer spending comfort, digital household dollar penetration, sales performance, shares/trends/gaps, value, order discounts/deals, assortment, and pre/post modular analysis
• Prepare Item Analysis reporting on key item metrics on a timely basis (sales performance, new item performance, units/inventory position, share/trends/assortment gaps, item attribution, and Ad Hoc happenings in the business
• Prepare Competitive Analysis reporting on key competitive metrics including identifying competitors in the market, space analysis, social media engagement, customer reviews, pricing insights, and competitive evaluation of online segmentation, pining, and promotions
Prepare Customer Analysis reporting on key customer metrics for online reviews, competitor reviews, purchase activity data, customer feedback, social media, website media, customer service data, case studies and testimonials, behavior tree prep and review to identify customers, and primary/secondary/quantitative/qualitative research
