School Guidance Counselor (Personal Services)
Position:
Hamadeh Educational Services is seeking a highly motivated School Guidance Counselor to join our team! The school guidance counselor will provide on-site counseling to students and result in helping students make appropriate decisions relative to the school program and provide informational services to students and parents
Academy Mission:
The Academies mission is to provide their students with a quality education that focuses on a core curriculum and international cultures including the study of language. The academies provide an education of the whole child by integrating different diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds to their college-preparatory program serving families in the Greater Detroit area.
Responsibilities:
Provides individual and group counseling regarding personal, peer or family problems to (K-12) students referred for helpAssists students evaluate their abilities, interest, talents, and personality characteristics in order to develop realistic academic and career goals.Advises middle and high school students on college majors, admission requirements, entrance exams, and financial aid and on trade or technical schools and apprenticeship programs.Provides behavioral management consultation and planning, including classroom and recess observation, monitoring and follow-up.Consults with school social worker to provide activities designed to improve and support the emotional, behavioral and social skills development of students.Provides support and consultation to School staff as needed, participating as a member of the school Building Guidance Team & Students who have special needs and require additional and unique services.Performs other duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
Must have Masters Degree in School CounselingMust have aMichigan Teaching Certification with a School Counselor endorsementExperience in individual, group and family counseling with adolescents.Counseling experience must be in an educational settingMust possess excellent organization, planning, professionalism, and time management skillsMust be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office softwareMust possess excellent verbal and written and interpersonal communication skillsExperience working in culturally diverse setting.Ability to work independently and within a team environmentFlexible open minded, self driven team memberMust be authorized to work in the US
