Innovation & Design Engineer II (Information Technology)
Purpose and Scope of Job:
This position serves as the engineering champion for digital transformation, automation of processes and tools as well as alignment and standardization between SMA Group engineering departments. The primary areas of responsibilities arecreating and implementing standards in SMA and SMA Group engineering departments to improve efficiency through processes and automation as well as standards to track resource capacity in Group engineering departments more easily spread workload.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
Implement systems like Salesforce in Group engineering departmentsCreate guidelines for engineering departments to process work in similar waysTrain SMA and SMA Group engineering departments on processes and tools to ensure a unified approachExplore and find ways to automate and simplify engineering tools for gearbox selectionsExplore and find ways to automate and simplify engineering tools for design of components such as lanterns, swing bases, housings, shafts, gearsProactively partner with Operations team to ensure all tools developed are focused on inhouse manufacturing capabilitiesImplement validation tools to ensure that in-production products have and meet all technical specifications.Support SMA Front end throughput efficiencies by utilizing and improving upon tools to aid product selection and product design processes.Drive cost down initiatives based on product optimization and adhering to established best practicesDrive the resolution of Failure Analysis, Root Cause, and Software related Corrective Actions for product failures.Author technical reports relating Failure Analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Actions for the assigned product.Manage and document in-production product features, options and accessories.Manage product technical standards, resources and information.Manage automation and tool technical standards, resources and informationSupport Product Management and Marketing with technical expertise and verification of technical information.Proactively partner with the Operation team to ensure product quality adherence.Responsible for administering the Token and seats in the CAD Softwares used at SMAExploring new and updating current CAD Technology to be used at SMA
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)Four (4) years of product engineering or product development experience.Working Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma Manufacturing Best PracticesKnowledge of motors, brake-motors, motor standards such as UL, MG1, CSA and motor design and manufacture is required.Knowledge of other rotating equipment, such as gearboxes, is preferred.Understanding of the selection, design and workload management processes used in SMA EngineeringAny additional essential skills and/or knowledge as shown in the HRIS Career & Education > Skills section for incumbents holding this job title
