Tooling Technician (Manufacturing)

THIS POSTION IS FOR 2ND SHIFT
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizes and kits tooling by assembly based on manufacturing needs and requests
Understand the first article process for tooling and be able to interpret drawings and perform the tooling first articles
Interpret drawings, evaluate machining methods on assignments and assist other toolmakers and apprentices in the operation and setup of toolroom equipment
Performs precision work to exact tolerances and dimensions
Inspect and ensures tooling is correct and fully functional to current design when issued to and when received from manufacturing, and repair if necessary.
Wash tooling returned from manufacturing prior to returning to designated stock location.
Maintains the tooling wash equipment.
Relay information to manufacturing engineers and possibly work directly with the tooling suppliers to maintain changes to tooling are documented
Provide recommendations for designing, fabricating and / or modifying necessary tooling, and product design for manufacturability (DFM) improvements.
Leads the use of lean tools to drive continuous improvement & process reliability within the Toolroom, maintaining VLM storage systems and programming.
Works under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and/or Manufacturing Engineering Lead to remove obsolete tooling from storage and database
Works under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Lead, or Manufacturing Engineering Technician Supervisor to ensure all engineering changes are managed through the relevant procedures including documentation, equipment manuals, records & CAD drawing controls taking into account any locked process or customer requirements needed
Supports the spare parts inventory system along with the Manufacturing Engineering Technician Supervisor
Implements all health and safety requirements including LOTO procedures and maintain any work area in a neat and orderly condition
Comply with all procedures within the company security policy.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned including calibrations and machine maintenance.
