This role will be that of a safety generalist tasked with providing support to the Contractor Safety program and Projects occurring across the country. As part of the Project Support group within Contractor Safety, this individual will also travel and spend time on Kinder Morgan projects and facilities usually addressing and resolving issues around Health and Safety policies associated with Contractors.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in a designated area by advising managers, employees and contractors in the application of corporate EHS processes, procedures and EHS regulations.
Responsible for compliance monitoring of Contractor programs related to Environmental, Health and Safety requirements (OSHA 1910, 1926) and PSM/RMP programs for applicable company assets.
Present expertise and guidance to Company EHS Teams for improved coordination, focus and effectiveness.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory standards, guidelines, and requirements.
Work as directed by Supervisor or Director with Operations, Engineering, EHS and Project Management Teams to address EHS concerns consistently supporting defined procedures and policies.
Assist Operations personnel with implementation of Safety, PSM/RMP waste management and SPCC programs.
Observe work sites to ensure proper EHS equipment is utilized and that EHS procedures are followed.
Focus of oversight on the following areas:
Contractor O&M / Office Assessments
Contractor help sessions
Internal requests and contractor requests for ISN / Contractor Safety Program user training
Project Support (on-site, program development, inspections)
Conduct Contractor Audits (FAN - Field Audit Network)
Inform Operations and Project Management of violations of EHS regulations and codes, make recommendations for correction, and provide follow-up to ensure implementation and monitor effectiveness.
Office activities include:
Provide written documentation of site issues and resolution strategies
Provide written reports documenting (with pictures) activities, before and after issues
Managing actions to completion with firm timelines, and deliverable dates
Develop and review various reporting data for analysis, measurables, and trending
Develop incident reports for review and KPI tracking
Develop methods for effective management and maintenance of programs and documents
Provide effective guidance on new program processes and maintenance
The ability to work with a team, take directions from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
Vastly experienced with Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks in high pressure and time restricted situations.
Ability to recognize, research and resolve gaps identified in the company EHS process.
Other daily, weekly, and monthly duties, and special projects, as assigned.

Education:
High school diploma, or equivalent is required.
Associate's degree, or some college, in business, accounting or a related discipline is desirable but not required.
Experience / specific knowledge:
Minimum of 5 years direct work experience in related job functions.
Solid knowledge of financial terms and principles.
Demonstrated proficiency in OSHA safety compliance, and EPA's Risk Management Program, spill containment and waste management programs.
The ability to write clearly and concisely for different types of audiences, deliver a presentation clearly and persuasively.
Certifications, license, registrations:
OSHA 10 hour
Competencies, skills, abilities:
Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft applications (including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint) for the purpose of word processing, spreadsheets and information retrieval.
Strong reading, listening and analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues/problems.
Must possess and regularly demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills.
An ability to successfully organize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, frequently under strict deadlines.
Ability to analyze events at the transaction level and apply sound and consistent resolutions to such events.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to actively and positively contribute to team strategies.
Ability to successfully perform the required and expected duties with little direct supervision.

Physical demands:
Sit for prolonged periods of time (office environment).
Participate in field walk throughs for extended periods of time and walk job sites that may have large area, rough terrain, and adverse weather conditions.
Working conditions:
Modern office location in Houston, TX.
Travel up to 50%.
This position has the opportunity to work a hybrid work schedule with Monday-Wednesday in the office and Thursday-Friday remotely. NOTE: There may be instances where business need requires the employee to work in the office or on a project on a scheduled remote day.
Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities: Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Progressively responsible administrative responsibilities, specific to contract management/administration and/or risk management/insurance field, are highly desirable.
Experience conducting statistical analyses of data is helpful.
OSHA 30 - Standards in Construction.
