Director of Accounting (Administrative)
Rayser HoldingsCedar Rapids seeks an experienced, forward-thinking, and results-oriented Director of Accounting.
In this role, you will oversee financial reporting, compliance, and accounting operations, including analysis, tax strategy, and risk management. You will provide financial insights to leadership, collaborate across departments to enhance efficiency, and lead the accounting team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
Analyze, prepare, and present financial and ad-hoc reports to support business decision-making, providing insights and recommendations to leadership and board members Review general ledger and related financial statements Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closings Manage periodic reporting Oversee external audits Leverage financial software, including advanced Excel functions and NetSuite, to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making and ensure alignment with company goals Support tax planning and strategy initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and optimize financial outcomes Conduct special projects/reviews and recommend accounting methods and procedures Maintain skill proficiency including improvement where deemed necessary and upgrading any additional or new skills on the appropriate position skills list Assess and enhance internal controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and risk management best practices Recognize and comply with legal regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements related to area of responsibility Manage, evaluate, and support accounting department staff, including assigning tasks, setting performance expectations, conducting performance reviews, and identifying areas for improvement Encourage and develop professional growth opportunities for employees
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting required Minimum of five (5) years experience, including at least two (2) years in public accounting Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; NetSuite experience preferred Strong knowledge of accounting and financial analysis theory and practice Healthcare and for-profit industry experience preferred Supervisory experience with a focus on employee development, including mentoring, training, and performance support Strong analytical, conceptual, and critical thinking skills for evaluating complex data Organizational and administrative skills to manage multiple systems and projects independently Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management Expertise in internal controls, risk management, and tax strategy Cross-departmental collaboration experience, including financial presentations and board-level communication Strong communication and relationship-building skills CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred
