Lead Scientist (Manufacturing)

As the Lead Scientist you will work with a team to identify problems and develop solutions for Family Care's tissue businesses. You will lead and support the development and design of tissue products and/or processes, with emphasis on optimizing and innovating in the areas of wet end chemistry, additives, coatings/creping, and treatment. Scale up of technologies from lab to pilot to commercial process will be a key area of focus. Additionally, you will collaborate broadly across R&E, Product Supply, Procurement, manufacturing, and with external vendors to help drive near and long-term business initiatives.
In this role, you will:
Lead and support materials development through scientific knowledge in tissue chemistry and tissue processes.
Conceive, develop, validate and share ideas leading ot new or improved products, processes, or material aligned with business objectives. A passion and willingness to innovate and improve products through chemistry and chemistry processes is highly desired.
Work individually and collaboratively with a cross-functional team that includes R&E, Supply Chain, Mill Operations, Procurement, and external material suppliers.
Communicate appropriately and effectively with all customers, internal and external, conducting all communications/transactions with the utmost integrity and honesty.
Drive a culture of protected and documented innovation to protect and defend K-C proprietary technology, products, and business processes through appropriate use of patents and trade secrets.
Provide leadership by example in safety, ethics, quality, regulatory, sustainability, inclusion and diversity while managing self in accordance with expected KC competencies.
Implement appropriate internal controls and standards to ensure compliance with applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

In one of our professional roles, you'll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in relevant scientific discipline, such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Pulp and Paper Science.
2 or more years of related technical experience in mill, production or staff R&E assignments.
Effective communication skills with the ability to discuss technical issues in a business environment; displayed strength in building relationships when working with mill partners and outside vendors.
Demonstrated ability to work independently or to lead small teams to complete assignments and related activities in an acceptable manner.
Strong analytical skills and ability to mine process data to provide clear direction as to areas of improvement.
Preferred:
The focus of this role will be in tissue chemistry and process innovation, leading/supporting innovation projects and optimization opportunities to support current and future programs. The preferred candidate will understand papermaking and have a working knowledge of tissue chemistries.

Salary Range: $86,000 - $106,000 USD
At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
Kimberly-Clark will support in-country relocation for the chosen candidate for the role. The benefits provided will be per the terms of Kimberly-Clark's applicable mobility policies. The benefits/policy provided will be decided at Kimberly-Clark's sole discretion.
