OPS Temporary Research Technician, Medical Eng (Finance)
This position works on a grant or research projects in the Gene Therapy and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory and performs specific laboratory procedures. The position performs data recording and preliminary analysis and may prepare graphs and charts for publication. Work at this level is nonexempt and represents a basic level of scientific contribution involving some theoretical knowledge. Research Technicians perform preliminary analysis of data and may produce graphs and charts for publication.This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
This job is subject to Foreign Influence Screening: During the 2021 Florida legislative session, House Bill 7017 ("HB 7017") was passed and later signed into law by Governor DeSantis. duties may be assigned as needed.
• Performs standard laboratory procedures such as maintaining cell cultures requiring the use of
sterile technique, cell counting, gene electrotransfer, preparing samples using staining techniques,
and performing assays for protein, RNA, DNA, or other cellular components.
• Fluorescence and transmitted light microscopy
• Cares for laboratory animals. Performs standardized experimental protocols. May prepare animals
for surgery, and care for animals after surgery.
• Orders laboratory equipment, calibrates instruments, and prepares laboratory equipment for use.
• Keeps and maintains a laboratory notebook (may be electronic)
• Monitors and assists with student experiments
• Prepares graphs, graphs, charts and tables from experimental results for inclusion in presentations
and publications.
• Facilitates and presents laboratory experiments in weekly lab meetings
