Jazz Host Part-time (Creative Design)

At GBH, we believe in the advantages of coming together to build community, mentor and learn from colleagues, and connect more deeply with our mission. As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

NEPM's Content and Audience Strategy oversees the creation and distribution of content that fulfills the organization's mission and grows the audience of NEPM's broadcast and digital services.

JOB OVERVIEW

The Fill-in Host's primary responsibility is to host and program a three-hour weekday show of jazz drawn from the broad spectrum reflecting the history of the music. Additional duties include working collaboratively with other editorial units on the production of broadcast and digital content, and with marketing and development on promotional and community engagement activities related to music.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Host jazz recorded and/or live jazz program; operate board and maintain studio logs and readings; report all discrepancies.
Select music or present playlist as directed.

SKILL SET

Proficient at running a radio production board while hosting a recorded or live music show.
Selecting music and curating jazz playlists appropriate for and appealing to NEPM's audience.
Knowledgeable and welcoming on-air presentation.
Ability to work independently.
Strong organizational skills, and ability to meet production and broadcast deadlines.
Computer proficiency and knowledge of latest business software required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required.
Two of more years of experience planning and hosting a radio music show.
