Primary Purpose:
Provide a high level of technical support to Cambridge Operation Area in Ohio as it relates to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Monitor, maintain, design and test cathodic protection system and apply internal corrosion control of pipeline facilities in Pennsylvania.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control of pipelines in Pennsylvania.
Corrosion control duties include but are not limited to: gathering annual pipe-to-soil surveys, gathering rectifier readings, troubleshooting rectifier units, performing interference testing, recommending, designing, and overseeing the installations of cathodic protection systems.
Assist with project manager duties for regional projects necessary to achieve cathodic protections of pipeline facilities which include working within a budget, meeting project deadlines, outlining project specifications, completing as-built drawings for needed cathodic facilities.
Monitor for electrical isolations of pipelines and identify points where electrical shorts are occurring.
Atmospheric corrosion duties include performing coating evaluations and providing technical assistance by preparing mitigation plans to district operations.
Internal corrosion responsibilities include installing coupons, evaluating coupon data, documenting results in TSIMS, visual inspections of internal pipeline surfaces, making recommendation to the internal corrosion control program and reviewing data from in-line tools.
Document all related work associated with performing and maintaining regulatory compliance and operating and maintenance procedures.
Well-balanced interpersonal skills and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills.
Assist E&C and Engineering personnel with the evaluation / development / implementation and maintenance of facility grounding systems as needed.
Participate in PHMSA's field inspections/audits.
Inspect 3rd party construction for cathodic protection installations / work activities
Must be available to respond to "Special Permit" designated rectifier failures within 2 working days unless back-up arrangements are made.
Be willing to travel overnight for training and to assist other corrosion technicians as needed

Position Requirements
Educational Requirements:
A two year technical degree in, electrical, electronics, corrosion, or equivalent from an approved and accredited college or university
Will consider applicant with high school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of corrosion experience.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.
Achieve and maintain all qualifications, certifications, and progression requirements applicable to the job classification
Completion of any site specific technical training that may be applicable
Experience / Specific Knowledge:
Understand and operate all corrosion related instrumentation
Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects
Proficient with computer skills (MS Office, operating systems, company software, and technical systems)
Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, etc.)
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision in an acceptable time frame
Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.
Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independently.
Ability to successfully work in team environment.
Overtime and overnight travel will be required.
Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow rules.
Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Safe work practice and active participation in the safety program.
The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed
Job level commensurate with experience and skill sets.
Knowledge of company policies and PHMSA regulations
Must be able to pull a small trailer and operate an ATV/UTV as required.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands:
Approximately 75% of the work may be performed outdoors, the balance of the work may involve negotiating rough terrain, mountainous regions, or heavy urban traffic areas.
Outdoor work may involve manual labor and repetitive standing, stooping, bending, squatting, and walking in varying weather conditions.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist, occasionally.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Knowledge (above the minimum requirements; not required, but advantageous in this position)
NACE certification
Experience in all phases of corrosion control and pipeline integrity as described in the Job Responsibilities
Experience with CPDM and Kapa
Working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards
Knowledge and experience with safe handling practices of products (gas and liquids).
Approved educational courses in all phases of corrosion including internal, external, and atmospheric corrosion.
