Our local market teams are responsible for managing network relationships with hospitals and physicians in their associated U.S. region/market, selling Cigna products to local employers, and working with these employers to manage their employees' benefits. The Performance & Execution team supports these local markets in all training efforts- including early careers programs, onboarding, new Cigna product/service training, as well as various annual sales and networking programs. In this internship, you'll have an opportunity to work with the Performance Execution, Onboarding, and Program teams, supporting training efforts for sales, client management, and provider network contracting.
Program & Learning Intern Responsibilities
This internship will take place May 20 through August within the Performance & Execution organization. It is designed to teach participants about the healthcare industry, local market functions, sales and contracting trainings and Cigna's business - all while developing business acumen in a dynamic and flexible work environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Program & Learning Intern, you will be assigned various responsibilities supporting the U.S. Commercial Early Career Learning team, composed of a Program Manager as well as Track and Curriculum Leads. Your focus within Early Career Learning at Cigna, will be U.S. Commercial's Sales & Contracting Development Program. During this internship you will have exposure to what goes into creating a corporate program to onboard and train new talent as well as how to successfully manage all elements of a sustainable program. You will learn firsthand from all program stakeholders including the program team, sales and contracting managers, program participants, and business leadership.
Intern activities include supporting overall program management, branding, marketing and communications, engagement, and event planning. The intern will also have exposure to performance and program data collection to evaluate the overall success of the program.
Specific examples of responsibilities may include:
Opportunity to Grow: Upon completion of the summer program, there may be an opportunity to extend the internship into the Fall and Spring on a part-time basis. During this extension, you will work on expanded projects, including tasks related to recruitment and the support of the next class of U.S. Commercial Interns and Early Career program associates .
Enterprise Community:
Cigna interns, across all areas of the company, will come together for various learning sessions throughout the program. This will provide you with a broader network of students in similar roles that serve different parts of the business. You will learn more about the company as a team and be able to connect throughout your internship.
U.S Commercial Community:
Outside of the Performance Enablement & Execution organization, you will have the opportunity for visibility and exposure to many different sales and contracting roles withing U.S. Commercial as well. All U.S Commercial interns will also be given opportunities to network together over the course of their internship.
Compensation:
Interns will earn a highly competitive hourly rate in addition to gaining valuable work experience and exposure to potential future Early Career Program offerings.
