This position is an integral part of the operation and interacts with all other departments within the company to ensure the cleanliness of the Yuma facility, including all processing equipment, overhead, processing floor, employee facilities, storage facilities, and outside grounds, to meet or exceed pertinent regulatory standards.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Train and supervise sanitation personnel to ensure that all pertinent laws, regulations, company rules, and procedures are followed properly.
• Work closely with Production, Warehousing, and Maintenance in scheduling all sanitation activities.
• Ensure adequate sanitation supplies.
• Ensure that all written cleaning and sanitation procedures are up-to-date.
• Assist in the writing and updating of forms and SSOPs.
• Work closely with QA personnel to ensure the effectiveness of cleaning practices.
• Respond to out-of-spec. environmental monitoring results promptly and effectively to ensure food safety.
• Keep all sanitation/safety training records.
• Assist in the filing of cleaning chemical labels and MSDSs.
• Plan staffing and resource needs for all cleaning and sanitizing activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute master sanitation schedule.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.
• Minimum five (5) years of industry experience in cleaning and sanitation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ten (10) years of industry experience in cleaning and sanitation.
• Knowledge of, and experience in advanced food safety and/or quality systems.
• Successful completion of college-level chemistry and microbiology courses.
• Proficiency in SSOP writing.

Physical Demand:

• Flexibility in the work schedule is required.
• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends at the peak of the processing season.
• About 90% will be spent inside the food processing plant environment during the cleaning shift.
• Lifting (up to 30.0 lbs.), carrying, standing, sitting, arm activity, hand dexterity, bending and twisting.
• Exposure to extreme heat and cold environments.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and Personal Protective Equipment is required.

Work Environment:

• Work performed in an office and refrigerated production facility environment.
• Smoke-free work environment.
