Research & Development Technician II (Engineering)
Purpose and Scope of Job:
Primarily responsible for performing a variety of product or process performance tests in compliance with test plans and in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):
Assemble industrial rotating equipment and control products and incorporate them into test assemblies including couplings, motors, inverters, sheaves, belts and chains. Review and approve the test plans, store and track the testing part, units. Monitor, observe, and record the progress of a variety of tests daily. Read and interpret wiring diagrams, installation manuals, instruction sheets and product catalogs to correctly select, position and secure the test machinery. Design and fabricate test fixtures, covers, guards and other related metal devices. Dissemble speed reducers and evaluating the condition of the internal components. Assist in the development of assembly processes for new product variations and options Assist other departments with a variety of tasks, including product repair, plant maintenance and assembly.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.Five (5) years of experience in servicing and/or testing industrial rotating equipment or in a related area. Ability to read and correctly interpret wiring diagrams.Understand of the concepts of machinery installation and operation including; safety, wiring, alignment, vibration and operating temperatures.Any additional essential skills and/or knowledge as shown in the HRIS Career & Education > Skills section for incumbents holding this job title. Provide training and assistance to other R&D Technicians
Work Conditions & Physical Environment:
Duties are performed in an industrial environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; twist; bend; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee must constantly lift, carry, move, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. This position is designated as safety- sensitive.
