Mech III Assembly - Coil Fabrication (Finance)

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
A Mechanic III is usually the entry level position for all full-time employees. This position is considered primarily training in nature. Based on need, a Mechanic III can be utilized on a temporary or regular basis in any department in which they are qualified. Normally, a Mechanic III will work under the direction of a Mechanic II or Mechanic I. As a Mechanic III progresses, they may be required to work independently. This is considered part of the training.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Required to have knowledge of and ability to use various hand tools including but not limited to mig weld and tape measure.
• Ability to read and interpret certified prints, paperwork, and drawings.
• Demonstrate a basic mechanical aptitude, read and understand general instructions, clean and prepare coils, tie down coils, bend and stack coils, expanding and facing, operate the Orbital welder, and make parts for benders to stack.
• Ability to read and access paperwork, Standard work and reference drawings.
• Able to learn and become forklift certified.
• Capability to understand quality standards and seek out issues on the line to communicate to Station Leader.
• Understanding of basic Lean Principles of 8 Wastes and 5S program. The ability to contribute new ideas and sustain these processes.
• Must consistently demonstrate good performance in the area of productivity, safety, and overall work habits.
• Basic knowledge of computers including but not limited to Microsoft Office and PeopleSoft.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Team leader, Plant superintendent or Plant manager.
• Must have good attendance. This requires applicant not to have been on the points system in the previous year.
• Ability to work any shift if needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Critical Thinking - Ability to identify errors such as double stacks, unlevel connections, damaged product, post galvanized coils with leaks.
• Communication - Capable of communicating with Team Leader, Station Leader and production employees professionally on all shifts.
• Customer Focus - Understanding of your customers, VPT2 line, Parts Department, Coil FAB, and 3015 line. Know their process and how quality and on-time delivery affects them.
• Aligning People and Team Development - Use appropriate methods and interpersonal skills to develop, motivate, and guide new temporary employees.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk up to 50% of the time. Working conditions include those of a normal construction environment, as well as standard hazards associated with installed HVAC equipment and rotating equipment. This position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
